For the record, Pilen is a Spanish company founded in the early 1960s by Pilar and Enrique Climent The brand name is derived from the first names of the two brothers. Pilen initially manufactured its own toys, but from the 1970s onward, it also produced Dinky Toys for Bobigny. The famous 1400 series! The model shown here is obviously made from the Dinky Toys mold. However, these ingenious Spaniards thought to add a flashing light to create an ambulance version! The model is in mint condition, with thick paint. The only minor flaw is a slight chip in the decal on the front hood. The wheels are made of one-piece black plastic with a chrome plastic insert. The inclusion of the box is also a plus! We note that a small part of the base is missing (the front left corner). We appreciate the presence of the tab indicating the model name on the base of the box, as these tend to peel off over time! In conclusion, despite these two minor flaws, it's important to emphasize that this type of model is rarely found in this condition. Furthermore, the history of the Spanish company and its connection to Dinky Toys only adds to the appeal of this model, whose prices remain very affordable even today!
