Rare lead figures, manufactured by the English firm, Taylor & Barret in the 1920s. This English company was founded in 1920 by Fred, Taylor, and Alfred Bayrett, who happened to be brothers-in-law! Like Meccano, they quickly specialized in manufacturing figurines, animals, and other decorative elements designed to enhance and complete model train sets, adding a touch of life. They later added vehicles, carts, and trolleybuses to their catalog. The company experienced strong growth in the 1920s and 30s with the purchase of two factories in North London. From the 1930s onward, their products began to gain popularity and were mass-produced in larger quantities. Their production was completely interrupted during the war when their factories were requisitioned. In fact, some of them were destroyed by bombing. After the war, the two brothers-in-law went their separate ways, each creating their own companies, still within the same sector. The two firms continued to exist in parallel until the 1980s, but their renown never equaled that of the original company. This item is in superb condition. It is entirely original. It's the ideal type of object to decorate your display cases. And, even though it's over a century old, being made of lead, it hasn't suffered from metal fatigue!
