#4807 - Corgi Toys - Lotus - Esprit "007" "Wet Nellie" James Bond
Reference Corgi Toys ( Great Britain ) : 269
Item without its box -
Model status: 4.2
Description: Here is one of Corgi's great classics from the 70s. This Lotus Esprit is James Bond's submarine car in the film "The Spy Who Loved Me". This model will be the worthy successor to the 1965 Goldfinger Aston Martin. Corgi produced the first version in 1977, with a specific "film strip" box representing cinema reels. There will even be a variant of this box. The "Hammer and Sickle", with a tiny hammer and sickle symbol appearing in the second zero of the 007 logo. In 1978, there will be a new box with slight variations. This third box will be the most common as it will be produced until 1980. This model is particularly popular because it represents exactly what Corgi did best in the 70s: mechanical gadgets, inspired by cinema. It was necessarily an extremely popular toy. Collectors' forums often feature people explaining that they had this Lotus in their bath when they were children! Equipped with black plastic wheels with needle axles, let's specify right away that the model we offer here is functional! The only small drawback is that the four missiles are missing. You'll just have to find them! But the most important thing is present: the wing opening system is functional, the decal is impeccable, and the model is in excellent condition.
