Attention, a curiosity! We have here the Citroën DS Pick-up Tour de France, manufactured by Corgi-Toys from 1970. The normal version is uncommon. However, the version we are offering you here is even less so! We will also note that the two "Paramount" decals are missing on both sides. These two decals are quite imposing; so, if they had been removed, there would be traces left. It is therefore evident that this model never received the Paramount decal. Perhaps Corgi had not yet signed a contract with Paramount! The Whizzwheels range was launched by Corgi between 1969 and 1970. This model is normally equipped with fast wheels; you will also see the mention Whizzwheels on the chassis. However, the model does not seem to have been tampered with. My father explained to me that, at the time, many collectors were put off by these new fast wheels. It is therefore highly likely that the collector, at the time, skillfully managed to replace the original wheels with these versions of rims with notched tires. I would have loved to imagine that this model came from one of the very first versions of this model; for which Corgi would have preferred to reuse the rims and tires they had in stock! But my father has very, very strong doubts about the probability of this hypothesis. We will therefore have to be content with the absence of the two Paramount decals, which is already a first type of uncommon variant! In addition, the model is very clean! A must-have!
