Description: The Mini was born in 1959 at BMC, under the pencil of Alec Issigonis. Its innovative architecture — transverse engine and front-wheel drive — freed up most of the body for passengers, offering an astonishingly spacious interior in a body less than three meters long. It was this technical choice that would make its career. John Cooper, a single-seater constructor, quickly perceived the sporting potential of the small English car. From this intuition came the Mini Cooper in 1961, then the Mini Cooper "S" in 1963, equipped with more generous engines (970, 1071 then 1275 cm³) and disc brakes. In competition, the Cooper S distinguished itself in the Monte Carlo Rally, which it won in 1964, 1965 and 1967 — the 1966 victory having been withdrawn due to a lighting controversy. With popular tourism and a sporting record combined, the Mini became a figure of the 1960s. This car was so popular that the Swansea firm offered this restyled version in the mid-60s. It was a success. Launched in 1968 and removed from the catalog in 1970, at 1/41 scale, it was available in two metallic shades — blue or green — at an original price of 7 shillings 6 pence; the chassis bears the mention "BMC Mini-Cooper 'S'". Its low sales, over only two years, make it a rare model today! The mold would then be reused for the Mini Cooper "Whizzwheels" (Corgi 282), distributed from 1971 to 1974. This was the "luxury" version of the Mini range: opening doors, bonnet and boot, detailed cream interior with reclining seats, reproduced engine, chrome, "jewel" headlights (jewelled headlights). It also received detailed cast wheels, fitted with "Corgi Toys" notched tires, and spring suspension. But its signature was its striped sliding sunroof — fine red and yellow stripes. However, on the model we offer here, the collector preferred to cover it (very carefully) with a checkered decal. He thus transforms this version into a rally version! However, we will appreciate its very beautiful paint quality; the model is in new condition. Moreover, even if the chrome is often worn and tired; this is not the case here. We offer the model here at a low price. Take advantage of it! It is a rare model, in beautiful condition; and delivered in a very original version!
