Description: A little giant-killer on the Monte Carlo special stages, the Morris Mini-Cooper built its sporting legend in the early 1960s by humiliating much more powerful sedans, thanks to Issigonis' genius for packaging and John Cooper's preparations. It was this competitive glory that Corgi Toys, under the aegis of Mettoy, chose to immortalize as early as 1962 with its reference 227 "Competition Model," amidst the innovation race between British manufacturers. The miniature encapsulates all the brand's "windowed" expertise: jeweled headlights, spring suspension, spun chrome hubs, treaded black tires, a crisp red interior, and especially its complete racing livery—number 7 on the doors and a British flag + checkerboard decal on the hood. Produced until 1965, the reference then gave way to the "Monte Carlo" Mini-Coopers, which would celebrate the brand's official victories. The offered example stands out with its white painted hood, a much rarer variant than the body-colored hood versions, and is presented in respectable condition.
