Description: This GMC CCKW 353, the US Army's 2.5-ton 6x6 truck, nicknamed "deuce and a half" or "Jimmy," was produced in hundreds of thousands during World War II. After the Liberation and then with the Marshall Plan, France was flooded with virtually indestructible surplus GMCs. Lacking new equipment, municipalities, public works companies, and municipal services converted them for all uses – including street cleaning. After the war, the Marseille-based firm France Jouet seized the opportunity to make this GMC truck its bread and butter! From a single cabin mold, they didn't miss the chance to endlessly diversify their creations! From this characteristic 6x6 cab, the brand released an entire range: dump truck, tanker, timber carrier, crane (ref. 318), livestock transporter, "meat" van, military versions with soldiers and cannon... and this municipal road sweeper-sprinkler. This is the classic toy economy of the time – one chassis, ten bodies –... It's the same logic as Dinky or Corgi... But at France Jouet, the logic was applied to an extreme! The "sweeper-sprinkler" that FJ reproduces is therefore not a factory GMC, but this military GMC repurposed as a road vehicle: the front rotary broom sweeps, the rear tank sprays. FJ thus immortalized in miniature a very real scene from French cities in the 50s-60s. Our version combines a yellow cabin, a green tank, and a front brush (the original fiber brush is present here, even if it's worn). The example has various wear and chips on the cabin and tank. But it is complete and original. Typical raw zamac rims. A funny little detail known to collectors: the FJ box for this reference has a typo – "arrosseuse" with an extra "s". We offer you here the model without its box.... and that's precisely why I encourage you to acquire the model! Once in your display case, you'll then have to go searching for its box! Because, as all collectors know, the most beautiful piece is always the one you're looking for!
