Description: In the 1960s, large American sedans were widely used by emergency services in the United States, and the Chevrolet Impala was one of the preferred vehicles for Fire Department Chiefs. Corgi Toys, specializing in models with functional accessories and meticulous details, reproduced this intervention vehicle under reference 439 with its official livery and emergency equipment. It was first produced from 1963 in red livery with silver detailing to highlight the two sides. The door could be red or white. And the beacon was often orange. This first version usually featured raw zamac spoked wheels. There are variants with or without figures on board, and different versions of markings (Fire Chief, Police). Production continued until 1965. From 1965/1966, Corgi released a second version of this Impala. This time, the body was made of two half-shells of zamac, separated by a long chromed plastic piece that ran through the entire car. This piece served as both a front grille, a chromed side trim, and a rear bumper... all while being part of the suspension system! This second version bore the reference: 482. The model we are offering here corresponds to this second version. Moreover, the beacon is blue. The decal is present on the left door, but it is missing on the right door. However, we appreciate the presence of the "Fire Chief" decal on the hood in excellent condition, as well as the antenna. The model presents well, the paint is beautiful, and the plastic part is in superb condition. It features concave chrome steel wheels. This Chevrolet, so representative of the large American emergency vehicles of the 60s, is offered here in its less common version at a low price... And yet it even has the two policemen in the front!!!!
