But it was primarily a sporty grand tourer; it was never really well-represented in rallies. However, in the mid-1950s, Mercury began to implement a clever and attractive commercial strategy: from a single mold, the Turin-based firm enjoyed creating civilian, police, or rally versions, as here, with different types of decoration. By diversifying colors and decals, this allowed for a colorful and attractive range for children of the time. The version offered here is equipped with raw zamak spoke wheels (with non-original tires); and even if a little cleaning will make it even more beautiful, we can appreciate the thick paint, as well as the quality of the various decals which are all in good condition with very few missing parts. This version stands out because it does not have the white color band on the front fenders; it's a variant! Even if this rally version may seem more aesthetic, it is more common than the street version (La Stradale). This is why it is offered here at a very reasonable price.
