#4764 - Corgi Toys - Hillman - Imp Saloon
Reference Corgi Toys ( France ) : 251
Item without its box -
Model status: 4.8
Description: What a beautiful model! Hillman launched its Imp in 1963. At the time, expectations for this car were enormous! The aim was to compete with the Mini while introducing an architecture inspired by small European cars such as the NSU or the Fiat 600, which were very popular. This is why Corgi quickly reproduced it and managed to produce it within the same year! And despite this rush concerning production deadlines, we can say that this model is a total success. The Swansea firm has reproduced this cute little English car very well, the reproduction seems superior to that of Dinky Toys. We appreciate the opening rear window system and the presence of the large suitcase. The color harmony is also a success: metallic blue, bright yellow interior! Moreover, the model we offer you is complete with its suitcase; the paint is superb and thick. No cracks on the windows. The only small downside is a small suspension defect on the front wheels. However, the concave chrome steel rims and all the silver plating in general are superb. The model is obviously equipped with its original tires. This is therefore the first version: at the end of production (It will be produced until 1967.) the model will be produced with speed wheels. Very well preserved condition: new! The only non-original element: the presence of a license plate at the front and rear, as well as two small decals on the boot... But this was done with great taste, and I almost want to say that it makes the model even more beautiful!
