Description: The Stradair was an innovative truck launched by Berliet in 1965. It was distinguished by its "Airlam" air suspension, providing exceptional comfort for the time. Despite its technical qualities, its commercial career was relatively short. This did not prevent the Marseille toy manufacturer France Jouets from reproducing it in the late 1960s, also offering this "Pierval" promotional version. At that time, the Marseille manufacturer produced its Berliet Stradair (scale close to 1/60) in all the body types in the Berliet catalog: tarpaulin, dump truck, cherry picker, and therefore brewer. The exact release date of the Pierval livery is not precisely documented, but it is contemporary with the real truck, produced between 1965 and 1970. Pierval is a spring water from Normandy, drawn from the castle grounds of Pont-Saint-Pierre, in Eure. Its exploitation was decided in 1957 by the Société Normande des Eaux de Table, which built a modern bottling plant near the spring; production started on January 13, 1959. Known locally since the Middle Ages, the brand saw its sales soar in the 1950s-1960s, a period of booming bottled water in France. It is precisely in this context of growth that the truck fits in. The Pierval version was not a standard toy sold in stores: it is a promotional item, made at the request of the brand to animate its commercial operations and support its image. Its distribution was therefore made outside the classic network of toy stores — hence its relative rarity today. The "Pierval" advertising label, affixed to the cab and to the sideboards loaded with bottle crates, remains one of the least common among the brewer variations of the Stradair France Jouet. The Pierval advertising version is distinguished by its load of molded bottle crates and its specific markings. This model is now one of the most sought-after variants of the Stradair France Jouets series, especially when it retains all of its original crates and bottles! Unfortunately, our model has a few flaws: the presence of a visible chip on the front right of the hood; and a few other chips mainly on the protruding parts of the vehicle. However, beware of the photos: the model mainly needs a small cleaning! Indeed, these small defects do not impact the overall charm of this object: all the decals are in good condition (except, of course, the one affected by the chip on the front right of the hood); the beautiful thick white paint is obviously original. It is equipped with white plastic rims, also original, which have gone through the years without suffering any deformation or wear. The model includes all its crates. No cracks on the windows. Presence of the two figures at the front. It should be known that this model was issued only for promotional use (and therefore with a specific box)! It is a rare piece, and we offer it here at a very competitive price given the rarity of the object.
