Description: The DAF 2000 tractor belongs to the F generation of tilt-cab trucks launched in 1970, a technical milestone for DAF: the tilt-cab was a real service innovation. The same family then gave birth to the 2800 in 1973—one of the great successes in the brand's history, the first manufacturer in the world to combine turbo and intercooler—then to the F 700 and F 900 for distribution in 1975. The FA 2000 is in the intermediate segment of this range: a rigid regional distribution truck (class ~16 t). The "screw bulkwagen" body and the Hendrix livery are deeply rooted in Dutch reality: Hendrix (Hendrix' Voeders) is a major name in animal feed in the Netherlands, and these tipper trucks with discharge screws were used precisely to deliver bulk feed into farm silos. It's no surprise that Lion Car (later Lion Toys) produced this typically Dutch agricultural/logistical truck. The Dutch brand was founded in 1946 by Arie van Leeuwen; and as early as 1958, van Leeuwen designed his models directly from DAF's factory plans in Eindhoven. This explains the great fidelity of the reproductions—they were even nicknamed the "Dutch Dinky Toys". In the late 1960s, passenger car production ceased, and the brand specialized in trucks, with the DAF brand being particularly well represented. The standard production scale is 1:50. The model reproduces the cab of the DAF tilt-cab generation. In 1970, DAF introduced a whole new generation of trucks (F 1600 to F 2200) characterized by these tilt-cabs, which facilitated engine maintenance; three years later, in 1973, a cab widened by about twenty centimeters appeared for the new 2800. The No. 47 therefore uses the original narrow cab (F 1600/2000/2200), not the wide cab of the 2800. Specifically, this places the production of No. 47 from the mid/late 1970s, with the model then remaining in the catalog into the 1980s. This example, in its old DAF-style box (DAF logo, line drawing, "LION CAR Nr.47 / 2000 bulkwagen"), equipped with its red painted zamac wheels fitted with black notched tires, indicates that we are looking at a very early production. It bears the colors of the Hendrix company. The same chassis/body No. 47 was available in several advertising liveries. Added to this are the usual variations at Lion: cab color; type of wheels, and small removable parts. We will also appreciate the presence of the filling pipe / "vulpijp" and the cover plate here. They are often missing! The box is complete and original. There are a few small, very discreet signs of wear and the trace of a torn price tag. Very low price for this beautiful item!
