What an interesting product! We have here a set featuring a remote-controlled caravan. The set is complete with its caravan and remote control.
But to understand its full significance, one must know its history: In 1953, Mr. Jean-Firmin JAMMET filed a first patent for "Processes and arrangements concerning the manufacture of small permanent magnet electric motors of the toy type."
Three years later, he founded the company ADOR, based in Poitiers, which specialized in the manufacture and sale of micro electric motors, toys, and other electrical household appliances in Poitiers.
In 1958, the same gentleman filed a second patent relating to "processes and arrangements concerning remote controls and remote guidance for electric vehicles of the toy type."
It was in the same year that the first Miniabloc set, the one we offer here, was released. This first set included only one caravan, usually ivory, with a remote control box offering three functions: move forward, move backward, stop.
It is amusing to note that there would be two bodywork variants and two rim colors: red or white. The company quickly released a second set, which this time came with three different caravan bodyworks, but most importantly, a car! It would be a CIJ: the 1955 Chrysler Windsor.
Finally, a third set was produced. Identical to the second, its particularity was a technological innovation: this time, the remote control would also allow you to steer the caravan left or right.
It seems that the productions of this company stopped there. It is quite logical to understand this failure: here, it is the caravan that pulls the car!
To conclude on this firm and its production, it is important to remember the technological innovation and the remote control patents which earned it the Toy Oscar in 1958.
The set we offer here is particularly interesting because it is the first set, whose production must have been quite brief. The Poitiers firm surely quickly realized that it was necessary to add an automobile to make its set attractive!
