Description: Matchbox, the famous British brand, offered "Two-Packs" (TP) in the 1970s: two complementary vehicles sold together in a blister pack. The idea was simple: to offer two matching vehicles in the same blister pack for a lower price than buying the two models separately. The TP (Two Pack) references appeared around 1975 and became a full-fledged range for several years. The main objectives were to increase the average basket size; create thematic associations; compete with Hot Wheels sets and other manufacturers; and capitalize on the success of Superfast wheels. In reality, Matchbox was also looking to maximize the profitability of existing molds. Even though the models present in the Two Packs remained simultaneously available in the classic ranges, these packs offered the opportunity to sell more quantity. Indeed, around 1974-1976, Lesney Products faced financial difficulties and the company sought to increase sales, limit development costs, and reuse existing molds. They managed to do so intelligently by creating packs that always combined two models that could coexist within the same universe. This allowed for the creation of an attractive visual specific to each pack, thus allowing the child to project themselves into a universe and a play scene. The TP-6 reference combines the Matchbox Superfast No.29 Mini Ha-Ha (1970 edition) and the Matchbox Superfast No.74 Toe Joe (1972 edition); both equipped with black plastic wheels with chrome trim.
