Description: The Renault Floride is an elegant Renault convertible/coupe produced from 1959 to 1964, designed by Frua based on the Dauphine. Its American-inspired design is very attractive. Metosul produced a zamac reproduction of it under reference no. 1 — the first model in the range, which highlights the importance of this vehicle for the Portuguese manufacturer. A highly sought-after model by Metosul collectors. Chrome steel rims; very nice paint quality, thick and shiny, model in new condition. Later models would not receive such beautiful paint! Superb product! Metosul drew inspiration from Solido! To top it off, we appreciate the presence of the complete and well-formed box. For the record, Metosul was the oldest Portuguese manufacturer of die-cast metal (zamac) miniatures. The original company was founded in 1931 in the coastal city of Espinho, just south of Porto. It was created by Manuel Henriques and Artur Henriques under the name "Luso-Celuloïde" and initially employed eight people, who manufactured plastic jewelry, trinkets, and souvenirs to order. In the 1950s, a new entity, "Osul" (a simple anagram of "Luso"), was formed to design and distribute plastic toys. In the mid-1960s, Osul gradually moved away from plastic to experiment with die-casting. With success, the company was renamed "Metal Osul," abbreviated to "MetOsul" — a name preferred over "Luso Met." The core of the MetOsul range consisted of 1/43 scale cars and trucks, but the firm also produced various metal objects, including a wide assortment of toy tools. Zamac and plastic vehicles, usually in 1/43 scale, also appeared under the name "Luso Toys" during the 1970s and 1980s. Known models include: Citroën DS 19 (and a Police version), Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, Renault Floride, Morris Mini Cooper
