Description: A sports coupé with Italian lines designed by Pelle Petterson, the 1961 Volvo P1800 conceals legendary robustness beneath its elegance – to the extent that one of its models holds the world record for mileage – and owes part of its renown to its role as the "Saint's" car on television. It is this status as a chic and international coupé that prompted the Portuguese manufacturer Metosul to include it in its catalog under reference 11, around the turn of the 1970s, at 1/43rd scale. The firm reproduced popular European models for the local market, in limited volume series, which explains the current value of its productions among collectors. Note that the model is heavily inspired by the one produced by Corgi Toys. The die-cast miniature seduces with its faithful silhouette, red interior, clear glazing, fine chrome bumpers, and perforated chrome steel rims fitted with treaded black tires. The same body would also give rise to a rarer police version. From a firm in Espinho with modest print runs, it remains uncommon on the market. The example offered, in ivory cream, is complete. Very beautiful paint quality, thick and shiny; model in superb condition, with a few minimal small chips, scattered, mainly on the protruding parts. It must be said that the color offered here highlights this type of slight defect even more. However, we can appreciate the presence of its original display box. A beautiful collectible Scandinavian coupé, rare and complete in its box: a must-have!
