Description: At a time when toy safety was becoming a major concern, the Danish manufacturer LKE Product offered a brilliant alternative: virtually indestructible, brightly colored rubber vehicles. This approach prioritized imagination over accuracy, giving rise to a range of generic service vehicles, instantly recognizable by children. This tow truck is the perfect example, an archetype of 1960s utility vehicles rather than an exact replica, avoiding costly manufacturer licenses. Its production came in a rainbow of colors – red, blue, orange, and, as here, a bright red – with or without its flashing lights, sold in bulk in bazaars or in simple bags. The model offered here is precisely one of these versions produced between 1965 and 1975. It is identified by its integrated cross-brace chassis and its single-piece black wheels. Despite the absence of the hook, we can appreciate its two yellow flashing lights; this old toy is in very good condition, bearing only the discreet marks of hours of play. Its old price tag, which confused it with a "Midgetoy," tells another story: that of its long career in the toy bin of a bygone store.
