Description: The Renault 30 TS was unveiled in March 1975 at the Geneva Motor Show, alongside the Peugeot 604, with which it shared a new engine. It would be Renault's flagship, marking the brand's return to the luxury car market and introducing its first V6 engine, the famous PRV born from an alliance with Peugeot and Volvo — an engine initially conceived as a V8, but two cylinders were removed due to the oil crisis. Its daring, a large hatchback sedan designed by Gaston Juchet in a segment that swore by three-box designs, made it a curious and distinctly French status symbol. It was this status as a new Renault model that prompted Norev to include it in its catalog soon after, under reference 856, at the precise moment when the Villeurbanne firm was transitioning from plastic to zamak for its Jet-Car series. At the turn of the 1970s, the Lyon-based manufacturer took a decisive turn: it launched the Jet-Car series, made of zamak, intended to gradually replace plastic and compete with the "metal" of Dinky Toys and Solido. And this model is a testament to this transition. It coexisted in zamak, a common version, and in plastic, the latter being among the very last plastic injections to come out of Villeurbanne before metal definitively took over — making it much harder to find. But the plastic version was already equipped with black plastic wheels with chrome trim, while our model here is equipped with black monobloc plastic wheels with a silver plastic insert. It is therefore amusing to see that the new zamak model exists with an earlier type of wheel than that which equipped the plastic version! Anachronistic! This variant is therefore rare as it was quickly equipped with wheels without inserts. The miniature seduces with its accurate silhouette, clear glazing, black plastic wheels with chrome trim (chrome-finish plastic hubs) and its "made in France" crimped chassis, true to the codes of the house founded by Joseph Véron. On the road, the real 30 bowed out in 1983 in favor of the Renault 25. The model offered features a beautiful metallic green color and is complete, in its original condition, with only the signs of use that one readily forgives a toy of this age. A pleasant evocation of a pivotal era at Norev: a must-have. This version from the Jet Car series is particularly interesting.
