Description: The 1951 Chrysler Crown Imperial is not just any American car. As the brand's flagship, it introduced the first power steering system fitted as standard on an American automobile, the Hydraguide, in the same year as Chrysler's first V8, the Hemi FirePower. Its most formal version was bodied by coachbuilder Derham, who removed the rear quarter windows for passenger privacy. It was precisely these rare coachbuilt models, overlooked by English manufacturers, that Sergio Goldvarg wanted to revive. The Argentine collector founded his brand in 1988 to model American cars from the 40s and 50s that no one else reproduced in white metal; the Crown Imperial became his third model, launched in 1991. All the care of this artisanal production is evident: thick casting, metal headlights, chrome bumpers, trim, handles and mascot attached and assembled by hand, solid rear quarter windows faithful to the Derham bodywork. The wheels feature beautiful solid chrome hubcaps fitted with smooth whitewall tires. The company produced these white metal models until around 2000, before being reborn in 2017 as resin models manufactured in China — a completely different story. The example offered is the metallic dark blue version with a light interior: deep and glossy paintwork, well-placed chrome, clear glazing, complete and original, with only the minimal signs of use from its age. Produced in just over 1250 units across all colors and long unavailable, this Crown Imperial is a great entry point into the coveted world of Goldvarg white metal models. A must-have!
