Description: The LDM.60 was released in 2007 as part of the Lansdowne Models collection produced by Brooklin Models Limited in Bath, England. As a reminder, Lansdowne is Brooklin's range dedicated to classic British cars, launched in 1993. These models are handcrafted in white metal, individually painted in authentic period colors, with chrome trim and simulated windows. This model reproduces the 1954 Wolseley 6/90 Series I in "Mist Grey" with a dark red interior. The license plate "VWL 663" is molded. Lansdowne waited until 2007 to produce this model, testament to the enduring popularity of the 6/90 among British collectors—especially for its reputation as a police car.The Wolseley 6/90 was unveiled at the British Motor Show in October 1954. It succeeded the 6/80 as Wolseley's flagship car. Unlike its predecessor which shared its body with the Morris Six, the 6/90 used the Italian-styled body panels of the Riley Pathfinder (designed by Gerald Palmer), while receiving the new BMC C-Series 2,639 cm³ six-cylinder inline engine developing 95 hp. Produced in 11,852 units until 1959, it came in three series (I, II, III). Its reputation as a police car is legendary: until the early 1960s, the black Wolseley 6/90 with its Winkworth bell on the front bumper was the quintessential British police car. The 6/90 is also considered by enthusiasts to be the last true Wolseley, visually distinct from contemporary Austin and Morris models. The LDM.60 was produced by Lansdowne in at least two known versions: • Mist Grey / dark red interior — our model — standard version • Black / red interior — police version (highly sought after by collectors) Like all Lansdowne models, production is extremely limited (fewer than 3,000 units over the model's lifespan), which ensures relative rarity on the secondary market.
